Screening: Monday, May 12, 2014, 9:30pm
Directed by: Darren Paul Fisher
Starring Daniel Fraser, Eleanor Wyld, and Dylan Llewellyn
Synopsis: Set in a world that is strangely familiar, just plain strange and where people are grouped by “frequency”–high-frequency types are incredibly successful and lucky while those with low-frequency are anything but–the super-low Isaac will do anything to be with the ultra-high Marie and in doing so kicks off a chain of events that could change things forever.
What the Critics Are Saying:
“OXV: The Manual is still one of the smartest science fiction films I have seen in quite a while.”
–Don Simpson, Smells Like Screen Spirit
“Fisher deconstructs the process in a fictitious way that still resonates with truth, and by stripping away all of the cutesy behavior and awful stuff of romantic-comedies, he’s arrived with a movie that is both sweet and dangerous. OXV: THE MANUAL is not afraid to get brainy, nor does it shy away from a bit of magic. I’m not sure I could pass a frequency test on this film, but that didn’t stop me from loving it.”
